How would I explain to my children something as complex as Artificial Intelligence?
Ana Belén Rueda is the mother of Martín, Inés and Alba, a computer engineer, AI specialist and teacher. Inspired by her children, her dogs and her father, she created this adventure to bring technology closer to new generations in a simple, fun and human way.
This book is also a tribute to her father and is born with the desire to contribute a small grain of sand to the fight against cancer.
I work with Artificial Intelligence every day and I also teach about it. But when I thought about how to explain it to my own children, I realized I had to do something completely different.
I had to swap algorithms for animals, models for clues and technical explanations for an adventure.
With a story. 💛
The goal
I wanted children to understand ideas that will likely be part of their future, but without taking away the most important thing: the desire to play, imagine and ask questions.
An adventure that teaches how an AI thinks
The story uses a children's adventure as a vehicle to intuitively introduce how an Artificial Intelligence learns. But first it must feel like a fun and exciting adventure.
LuzIA's learning progression
What is NOT a dog?
LuzIA starts by ruling out
→What is a dog?
Recognizes the species
→What is a schnauzer?
Identifies the breed
→Who is Pluto, Mía and Bimba?
Distinguishes each one
First it's a fun adventure with mystery, pets and humor. Learning is discovered afterwards as a second layer of great value.
A story that combines
For you, Dad 💛

A sunset walk by the sea: with you, always.
For my father, Jose.
This book is for you.
Thank you for teaching me, through your example, that work, perseverance and love for family can take us much further than we imagine. For making me believe I could do anything and for always being by my side, with a piece of advice, a lesson or those hands capable of fixing almost anything.
You remain with me in every decision, every memory and everything I learned by your side. Grandpa José bears your name and also a part of you: your calm, your way of caring for us and that way of yours of teaching us, step by step.
I miss you so much. You were, are and will be one of the most important people in my life.
And for my aunt Chus, who taught me to say "Long live life!", to live it intensely and to face every battle with a smile.
This story is for you. And if one day it manages to contribute its little grain of sand to the fight against cancer, it will also be in your name.
I love you and will always carry you with me. 💛
A story with purpose
This project is born from something very simple: wanting to use what I know to explain to my children, and to other children their age, what Artificial Intelligence is in a way they can understand.
Instead of starting with algorithms, models or difficult words, I wanted to do it through a fun story, full of characters, animals, clues, mistakes and new attempts. An adventure in which children can discover, almost without realizing it, some of the ideas behind how an Artificial Intelligence learns.
But I would like LuzIA to be able to contribute something more.
If this project generates any profits, my intention is to dedicate them to the fight against cancer. A way of transforming a story born from learning, from family and from something very personal into a small grain of sand that can help others.
Because, if LuzIA manages to help some children learn and enjoy, and we can also contribute to such an important cause, this story will have gone much further than I imagined when I started writing it.
Bringing Artificial Intelligence closer to children in a simple, fun and age-appropriate way.
If the project generates profits, dedicate them to supporting the fight against cancer.
Learn, enjoy and, if we can, help.
What families say

Help me keep learning
LuzIA learns thanks to children's corrections. And this project can also learn from you.
